Your journey to healthier, happier skin is not just about creams and supplements. It’s about nourishing your body from the inside out and understanding what truly works for you.
My Story
Growing up, I struggled a lot with my skin. When puberty hit, acne became a big issue for me, showing up not only on my face but also on my back, which made me feel incredibly self-conscious. I remember trying harsh skincare products recommended by pharmacists, but they only made my skin dry, angry and uncomfortable.
I avoided going out without makeup for fear of meeting someone I knew and being judged for my skin. I can now see very clearly the impact it had on my self-esteem and confidence and how much my fear reduced social interactions and quality of life.
On top of that, I dealt with persistent digestive issues and struggled with my weight. It took some time, but I eventually started researching nutrition and made significant changes to my diet, which not only improved my digestion but also had a positive impact on my skin and overall well-being.
I started to make the connection between the state of my skin and which foods I was eating.
In 2012, I decided to train as a beauty therapist, partly to help myself and other women feel more confident in their skin. Through my training, I discovered the importance of professional skincare and invested in high-end professional brands. Eventually, I found Environ and was impressed with how effective their skin treatments and products were for my clients and me. In a world filled with countless skincare products, Environ is renowned for its cutting edge scientifically advanced skincare.
However, I realized that skincare products and supplements alone weren’t enough to address my skin issues at the root. It wasn’t until I delved deeper into nutrition, removing sugar from my diet and incorporating more vegetables and healthy fats, that I noticed significant improvements in my skin and overall health. The body is complex and needs real, whole foods – not just quick fixes with lotions and supplements. Reflecting on my journey, I recognised the impact of allergies and hormonal changes on my skin, particularly during that time of the month. I now fully understand that true change comes from within, through a holistic approach to nutrition and lifestyle.
I wish I had known earlier about the profound connection between nutrition and skin health and how the foods we consume directly impact the appearance and overall well-being of our skin. It would have saved me a lot of frustration and insecurity. My bad acne not only made me feel embarrassed and ugly but also ‘not enough’ in many areas, stressed, lonely and worried all the time about how others perceived me.
You deserve to feel amazing. You deserve to love your skin.
Stuff Not Many People Know
I have been on my own journey with health issues that include skin and digestive issues, food sensitivities, numerous weight loss challenges and difficulties conceiving. This personal journey had a significant impact on me and is the reason why I now help my clients make positive changes to their health.
Like most people, it never occurred to me that my diet and lifestyle might be contributing to my skin and health issues until I was in my 30s and I decided to take a different approach. In the process of becoming a Nutrition and Health Coach I learned how to take control of my health and protect my immunity. I learned healthy habits that will protect me and my family and I have made significant changes to the food I was eating. Now, I’d love to help you on your journey to get great results as well.
